Child Support
We understand that child support matters can be complex and emotionally charged. Our team of experienced litigators and staff have handled thousands of child support cases and are ready to guide you through the process and help you achieve a fair and just outcome for you and your children.
In Missouri, child support is determined based on Missouri Supreme Court Rule 88.01 and Form 14. Missouri provides a formula that allows the court to calculate an appropriate child support amount based on the incomes of the parents, the custody schedule, the cost of health insurance, daycare and other relevant factors. The child support amount calculated using Form 14 is presumed to be the correct child support amount unless a parent can rebut the use of the form as being unjust and inappropriate for their circumstances.
Child support extends beyond just monthly payments. Indeed, child support also frequently includes payment of extracurricular and medical expenses for your child and can even extend to orders requiring parents to pay for higher education costs for their children after graduating from high school.
We can assist you in:
- Calculating the proper child support amount;
- Modifying existing child support orders;
- Enforcing prior child support orders; and
- Representing you in court or in administrative hearings before the Division of Family Services.
Every family has different needs for their children and their family finances are unique. Whether you want to negotiate a resolution to your child support case or need an attorney who can litigate your child support matter in the courtroom, we’re here to help.
